CICP and MICE On Demand

Once you register for this exam NCI will contact you to determine the date and time that works for you and for NCI staff. The date can be:

  • Anytime between 7 calendar days-post-registration to 60 calendar days-post-registration.
  • Available days: M—F
  • Available times: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

You will take the exam at the NCI office on the University of Arizona in Tucson. There are several parking options close to our office. Your renditions will be recorded. The recording will be sent to an NCI rater*. You will receive your scores and feedback about your performance within 3 weeks.

Q: What do I need to bring with me to the exam?
A: A picture ID.

Q: How long does it take to sit for the CICP?
A: About 40 minutes.

Q: How long does it take to sit for the MICE?
A: About 60 minutes.

Q: Is my performance recorded?
A: Yes.

Q: If I don’t pass the exam do I get a refund?
A: No.

Q: If I don’t pass the exam can I retake it?
A: Yes, you can retake the exam. You must wait a minimum of 90 calendar days before retaking the exam.

*NCI raters for the CICP are Federally Certified Court Interpreters with years of experience training interpreters and scoring performance exams. NCI raters for the MICE are certified healthcare interpreters (CMI and/or CHI) and have years of experience training interpreters and scoring performance exams.
