Mrs. Laura Murphy was instrumental in her contributions to the many testing and educational projects she has participated in over the past many years, including the Federal Court Interpreter Certification Project, the development of court interpreter and medical interpreting training materials, the establishment of the undergraduate major in interpreting and translation at the UA, the development of the Professional Language Development Program, and many interpreting and specialized language proficiency tests. As part of her deep commitment to ensuring equal access to limited English speakers as they came before the law, Laura shared her knowledge generously and became a force in training aspiring interpreters to meet the rigorous criteria required by federal certification and interpretation in any legal setting.
This fund continues her legacy of commitment and dedication to the interpreting profession, and will allow many aspiring interpreters to pursue training in the legal interpreting profession who otherwise would not have the means to attend. We give our sincerest thanks to all of our generous benefactors for their continued support of our mission. Please consider making a tax- deductible donation of any amount in support of increasing access to social justice for limited-English-speaking individuals across the country.
At this point in time, we are unable to process donations directly online. To donate, please call our office at (520) 621-3615.
