The Legal Transcription & Translation Workshop will introduce and develop Spanish/English transcription and translation skills. One of the most demanding and increasingly growing areas of legal interpretation is the transcription and translation of evidentiary material resulting from the audio/video recordings of pre-and post-arrest investigative and interrogational events involving limited and non-English speakers. Due to their probative value, the transcription/translations of these recordings are often used as evidence in a court of law. This workshop will introduce concepts and strategies related to legal transcription, as well as legal translation concepts, including: theoretical approach to translating, using technology as a resource, recommended books and publications, and ethical business practices.
