The Institute faculty is comprised of highly experienced interpretation specialists, all of whom are federally certified interpreters. The Institute owes much of its success to its extraordinary faculty.

Dr. González is a leading proponent of language rights for limited- and non-English speakers. She holds her Ph.D. in linguistics, is a Professor of English at the University of Arizona, and is Director of the National Center for Interpretation.

Mr. Fatás is Assistant Professor of Practice and Director of the Undergraduate Program Translation and Interpretation at the University of Arizona. He is a United States Court Certified Interpreter, an ATA accredited translator and has been accredited as a medical interpreter since 1998. He has been the lead faculty of MITI since 2008 and a college professor for over 15 years.

Irene Radillo is an experienced Occupational Therapist. She has extensive experience as a medical and legal interpreter as well as a medical interpreter trainer. She also has served for many years as a medical translator for both hospitals and private agencies.

Mr. Rivas is Federally Certified Court Interpreter, California Court Certified Interpreter, ATA Accredited Translator, and conference interpreter. He has extensive experience as an interpreter trainer, curriculum developer, and interpreter/translator in medical and legal settings.

Cynthia Roat is a nationally known consultant on issues related to language access in health care. She holds Washington State certification as a medical and social service Spanish-English interpreter. Ms. Roat is a founding member of the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC).
